How solar water heating works
The energy is absorbed in the solar collector (panel) usually mounted on the roof.
The heat is transferred to the hot water cylinder via a pump.
The solar hot water systems work in conjunction with an existing boiler but will do most of the work.
The cylinder stores the heated water ready to use when required.
Since solar technology does not rely on the sunlight itself but on solar radiation, it can work efficiently in the UK to provide up to 70% of typical domestic hot water requirements.
